Amazon Dangerous Goods Review Stuck?

Here is Why Your SDS Was Rejected.

How to Fix Amazon Hazmat SDS Rejections (and Unlock Your Inventory)

Is your best-selling product stuck in "Hazmat Review" limbo?

There is nothing more frustrating for an Amazon FBA seller. You have inventory sitting at the fulfillment center, but your listing is inactive because the "Dangerous Goods" team rejected your Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

You check your document. It looks fine. It has 16 sections. It’s compliant with OSHA. So why does Amazon keep rejecting it?

The answer is simple: Amazon doesn't use humans to review your SDS. It uses bots.

At Valence Regulatory, we specialize in "Bot-Proofing" regulatory documents. Here are the top 4 reasons Amazon’s algorithm rejects valid SDSs and exactly how to fix them.

1. The "Exact Match" Error (Most Common)

Amazon’s bot performs a simple text scrape: It compares the Product Name on your SDS (Section 1) against your Amazon Listing Title.

If your Listing Title is "SuperClean Lemon Scented All-Purpose Cleaner - 16oz" but your SDS just says "SuperClean", the bot flags it as a mismatch.

The Fix: Ensure Section 1 of your SDS matches your Amazon listing title character-for-character. Do not use generic factory names.

2. The "Supplier" Mismatch

Are you a Private Label seller? If so, your SDS likely lists the original Chinese manufacturer in Section 1 as the "Supplier."

  • The Problem: Amazon looks at your Brand Registry data. If the Brand Owner is "Acme Home Goods" but the SDS says "Shenzhen Chemical Co," the bot assumes you uploaded the wrong file.

  • The Fix: As the private labeler, you are the responsible party. Re-author the SDS to list your company name and address in Section 1.

3. The "Flash Point" Contradiction

This is a logic trap that catches thousands of sellers.

  • The Problem: The bot reads Section 9 (Physical Properties) and sees a Flash Point of 130°F (Combustible). It then checks Section 14 (Transport). If Section 14 says "Not Regulated" without explanation, the bot rejects it as "Contradictory Data."

  • The Fix: You must explicitly cite the transport exemption in Section 14 (e.g., “Exempt from regulation per 49 CFR 173.150(f) for non-bulk packaging”). You have to "tell" the bot why it’s safe.

4. The 5-Year Expiration Date

Amazon has a strict internal rule: No documents older than 5 years. Even if the chemical formula hasn't changed since 2018, an SDS dated "January 2019" will be auto-rejected in 2025.

The Fix: Ensure your SDS "Revision Date" is current.

Stop Guessing. Get Unblocked.

Every day your listing is suppressed, you lose rank and sales. Don't waste weeks uploading the same failed PDF.

Valence Regulatory offers a 24-Hour Amazon Rescue Service. We review your listing, identify exactly why the bot is flagging you, and re-author a compliant, "Bot-Ready" Safety Data Sheet to get your inventory unlocked.
